How the Tournament Bracket is Drawn
After the official weigh-ins each day, the names of the boxers are drawn from their respective weight class pools to determine the matchups for the tournament bracket. Boxers who are not matched in the draw will be given a bye. This process is completely random, ensuring every athlete has an equal opportunity in the draw.
To maintain fairness, there is one key stipulation: boxers from the same gym will not be matched against each other unless it becomes absolutely necessary due to bracket constraints. This also ensures athletes do not advance directly to the championship bouts because of bracket disruptions caused by boxers missing weight, no-shows, or withdrawing due to injury.
The purpose of the tournament is to form the best boxing team possible to represent our state in the Southeast Tournament of Champions. While gym affiliations are respected in the bracket, the ultimate goal is to identify the strongest athletes in each weight class.
It’s important to remember that this tournament is designed to crown the best boxer in the state for each weight category, regardless of gym affiliation. Every draw is carefully conducted to ensure that the ultimate champion truly represents the top athlete in their division.
